An exquisite mixed-texture wedding cake for a chic summer wedding
at High House, Essex

Held in late summer at High House, this wedding was the definition of modern elegance. Set against the calm beauty of the Essex countryside, the day unfolded with a black-tie sensibility, chic, composed, and quietly luxurious. A palette of oyster, ivory, soft white, sage green, and touches of gold set the tone, creating a celebration that felt timeless yet contemporary. Every detail was considered, resulting in a day that was classy, sophisticated and beautifully refined.

  • THE VENUE

High House, Essex. Set within the tranquil Essex countryside, this venue offers a beautifully balanced backdrop of contemporary charm and historic character - the perfect canvas for a black-tie affair. Elegant, composed, and effortlessly sophisticated.

  • THE CAKE

This three-tier wedding cake embraced a play on texture. Smooth, concrete-style, and rustic ruffled finishes layered together with intention. A personalised floating hoop created a subtle optical illusion, while 24K gold leaf, fresh florals, and a silk bow added softness and refinement.

  • EXTRAS

With The Ultimate Styling Service, the cake table was styled to echo the sophistication of the day. Every element was curated to feel cohesive and considered. The result was more than a display; it was a moment where guests paused, admired, and remembered.

“Alex and I wanted to send a huge thank you for the truly wonderful cake you designed and made for our special day on Saturday. From start to finish, you were a pleasure. We had such fun with you during the design process, and you put us at ease with your calm nature and openness to all our ideas (and suggestions when we lacked ideas!). The tastings of cake along the way were also a very welcomed bonus!

You brought our dream cake to life in design and taste, and for that we couldn’t be more grateful. The final cake on the day took our breath away, especially alongside your beautiful decor. It was a showstopper and had many comments on the day. We have tried both the lemon flavour and the white chocolate and raspberry flavour, and still have some to continue to try this week. Family have asked for some extra slices if we have some to spare too.. we have begrudgingly agreed! The pink champagne tier has been popped into the freezer ready for us to relive the deliciousness next year.

So thank you very much, and for the sweet card we opened yesterday. I’m also so pleased I could see you briefly on the day and have a quick hug!”
